History

Vancouver Athletic FC is the amalgamation of long standing clubs Douglas Park Soccer Club and Grandview Legion Football Club (1955), and relative newcomer Vancouver Girls Soccer Club (established in 2007 out of a desire to provide more opportunities for girls in the city of Vancouver to play soccer at levels suitable for their abilities). The new club has over 1600 players ranging in age from five to eighteen, primarily serving the soccer needs of members in Central and East Vancouver.

The club also includes affiliated but financially separate adult teams playing in the VMSL and MWSL.

Vancouver Girls Soccer Club

Vancouver Girls Soccer Club

VGSC was created out of a desire to provide more opportunities for girls in the city of Vancouver to play soccer at levels suitable for their abilities, from recreational to competitive. For the 2011-2012 season, VGSC and Grandview Legion FC merged to become a larger club to better support youth soccer in Vancouver. The name VGSC was retained, along with the tradition behind it, to help encourage more girls into soccer.
