All professional coaching is under the direction of VAFC Head Coach and Technical Director Steve Weston. For the U8/9/10 house player emphasis is on the early development of all fundamental technical ball control skills such as dribbling; passing & receiving; guarding and striking the ball. For the U11/12 divisional player, there is a continued emphasis of all fundamental ball skills and progressing to advanced technical skills and decision making during game play. Regardless of age, all players will be assessed and placed in the appropriate skill development group to match their ability. Players will be constantly assessed and may be moved between groups at any time.
Elite Training Academy: Ages 2006/10
Identified players from the Player Development sessions and team play will be invited to be part of an elite 2006/10 born training group. Emphasis will be on improving early technical ball skills, as well as developing an early understanding of the game with appropriate decision making, and appropriate movement on and off the ball.
Players will be divided into 2 groups (Blue / White) From the 2 groups, players will be chosen to participate in various tournaments during the season, as well as participate in a spring league April – June 2018. Teams will be coached by volunteer and professional coaches under the direction of VAFC Head Coach and Technical Director Steve Weston.
This is for the older highly motivated divisional player who wishes to further advance their technical soccer skills as well as work on improving their overall strength /fitness, agility and coordination skills. All professional coaching is under the direction of VAFC Head Coach Steve Weston.
The objective is to provide a high level training environment for players to not only challenge themselves technically physically and mentally but transfer these skills into specific game play
