Concussions are one of the most frequently overlooked issues in youth sports. If there is any suspicion of a concussion, it is critical to immediately remove the player from all activities or competition.
No player suspected of having a concussion should return to play without first being evaluated and cleared by an independent medical professional who specializes in concussion management.
Coaches, parents, and players all have a role in the return-to-play process, which follows a 6-stage protocol with a minimum of 24 hours between each stage.
