We’re Hiring: Youth Soccer House League Coordinator

Vancouver Athletic Football Club (VAFC) is looking for an engaging and self-motivated part-time Coordinator to support our growing youth house league program (~1,300+ kids, ages 5 to 11).

The position involves on average ~20 hours of work per week. It will report to our Club Coordinator and liaise directly with the House Age Group Coordinators (~25 volunteers) for the winter season (August through to March) and our spring season (March through June). The individual must have a passion for working with volunteers and supporting youth sport.

While work hours are generally flexible, our league has some peak times that require a greater presence both offline and, occasionally, on the field with our membership. The new position will have support and training from the Club Coordinator.

Requirements:

  • Engaging, self-motivated, and a good communicator
  • Experience with youth sports an asset
  • Positive conflict management skills for our volunteer coordinators, coaches, and team mangers
  • Ability to manage time, level of effort & budget reporting
  • Ability to summarize, concisely, weekly and monthly reports to the Board on operational issues in a timely and proactive way
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Criminal record check

The individual will report directly to the VAFC Club Coordinator, assisting them and our Technical Director in program delivery and in monthly reporting to the VAFC Board.

Position and Compensation

The position is all year round. Hours of work, within the week (~20 hours), are generally flexible. Peak seasonal times include the winter program between August and March (“Winter”) and between April and June (“Spring”) interspersed with evaluations, team formations, and development camps events.

The position is initially being offered for: September 1st, 2019 to August 31st, 2020. The contract may be extended, upon mutual agreement, depending on the applicant’s success across the season and upon renewed approval by the Board.

A competitive and commensurate salary will be based on experience.
