VAFC COVID-19 Update: November 8, 2020

Attention: Divisional Teams

In combination with Vancouver District and BC Soccer, VAFC has had additional time to interpret the new Provincial Health Orders issued this weekend. The encouraging news is that league play and practices are expected to continue under the current model with the exception of, perhaps, additional travel restrictions outside of Vancouver Coastal Health District. Further details regarding travel and how this affects this coming weekends games on Nov 14 will 15 will be forwarded to teams as soon as we know more.

Please take the opportunity to review the information down below for clarity on this situation and how it pertains to your team.

OUTDOOR TRAINING CONTINUES UNDER PHASE 2 RESTRICTIONS

Teams are currently permitted to continue to train and practice under VAFCs current Phase 2 “Return to Play” guidelines for Soccer, subject to the following: https://vafc.ca/covid-19-info-and-resources

  • Coaches, managers, and players must continue to adhere to our Phase 2 of the ‘Return to Play’ requirements.
    • Social distancing must be respected at all times when not actively engaging in drills on the field. For example, social distancing is required when on the bench, sitting on the field during discussion, or when lining up for drills. When in doubt, social distance!
    • Coaches and managers are strongly encouraged to wear a mask when on the field and during transition to and from the field. This will provide protection for our Coaches and Managers as well for all of our players.
  • Parks Board has issued a request on November 7th, 2020 that no spectators are permitted on the field or within the fence line of the field.
    • This means no spectators in the center at Trillium and Empire fields or inside the field sections on our grass venues. Parents are also required to continue to limit numbers (one per player) on site.
    • We currently understand that “watching” players outside of the immediate fence line is permitted, but there can be no clusters or groups of individuals.
    • Parents are also strongly encouraged to wear masks during drop off and pick up.

VAFC knows this can be a challenging time with the many changes we have had to make this year. We just want to thank everyone for what they do and to make the player experience as positive as you can. Our goal is to provide a safe environment to train and play.

Thanks again for your understanding on this unique situation.
